Our Story
How It All Started
Anne Graves and Mike Lauria founded 3 Dogs Boarding & Daycare with a simple goal: create a safe, enriching, and welcoming environment where dogs feel at home while their owners are away. With more than two decades of experience in dog health, behavior, training, daycare, kennel management, and rescue rehabilitation, they built 3 Dogs around thoughtful care, structured play, and proactive supervision. Located in Portland’s historic Senn’s Dairy complex on NE 42nd and Killingsworth, the facility reflects their commitment to creating a unique and comfortable space for both dogs and owners.
In 2016, Anne and Mike expanded that same philosophy by acquiring the Stay Pet Hotel and transforming it into a full-service boarding and daycare facility. Today, both 3 Dogs and Stay Pet Hotel operate with the same focus on structured care, experienced supervision, carefully managed playgroups, large outdoor spaces, and individualized attention for every dog in their care.

A Different Approach to Boarding & Daycare
Built Around Understanding Dog Behavior
At 3 Dogs, we believe successful daycare starts with understanding dogs – not simply supervising them. Instead of breed restrictions, we use a detailed temperament screening process to determine whether a dog is a good fit for kennel-free daycare and group play. Staff members are trained to read canine body language, proactively manage playgroups, and redirect overstimulation before it escalates.
Using techniques like structured breaks, redirection, body blocking, and supervised socialization, we help create safer and more balanced interactions between dogs.
Combined with 24/7 onsite staffing, spacious play areas, natural light, and thoughtfully designed rest spaces, our facilities are built to support both activity and relaxation.
